Jane Wolsak was born in England in 1942, and attended St. Martin’s School of Art (Painting) and London University Institute of Education. She taught high school and further education courses in England, and in Canada after landing in Vancouver in the 60’s.
Since 1989, when she had her first solo show, she has been concentrating on her own artwork. For several years she has enjoyed painting and drawing simple objects, and in the process examining and appreciating their inherent significance. She usually works from life as she doesn’t find photos provide enough information, so she sets up the arrangement in her studio. It’s a slow and meditative exploration. Her work has been exhibited in several Vancouver galleries, and in Victoria, Toronto and Ottawa.
