Tyler Keeton Robbins is a self-taught, multi-disciplinary artist whose bold illustrative style reflects both contemporary culture and timeless, archetypal symbolism. Often employing a muted palette and stormy backdrops or unprimed, natural surfaces, his illustrative forms are always vibrant and always energetic. Recent forays into colour have produce works of extraordinary incandescence, fluorescent pinks and yellows cavort with the strong black mark-making, often filling the entire surface. One can view Robbins’ work purely on an aesthetic level – they are simply beautiful to experience – but there are always different layers of meaning, a message to be found in the mysterious forms. Like all masters of symbolism, Robbins has created his own language of layered patterns while acknowledging a deeper, more subconscious language familiar to us all.

Tyler Keeton Robbins lives and works in Kelowna, British Columbia
